Executive Committee | Bylaws | Committees | Student Subunits Dr. James Hobbs, President-Elect CONTACT: (707) 480-0188 Phone BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Hobbs is a professional research scientist in the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology at UC Davis and a member of Cal-Neva AFS since 1999. Jim completed his PhD. in Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis in 2004 and was a Post-Doctoral Scholar with the Pacific Estuarine Ecosystem Indicators Research at the Bodega Marine Laboratory and a Sea Grant-CALFED Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hobbs' research focuses on understanding the population biology and ecology of threatened and endangered species, and the effects of restoration on fish populations. He is also one of the leaders in the field of fish otolith studies, and a pioneer in the use of laser ablation techniques to reconstruct migration histories of fish using isotope geochemistry. |
