Announcing The ResultsofThe Cal-Neva Chapter AFS Photography Contest
The California-Nevada Chapter has recently concluded it first web-based photocontest. There were 10 entrants and a total of 26 photographs entered. Our thanks go to each of the entrants, who included: Chris Berry, Chuck Hanson, George Heise, Steve Howard, Zack Larson, Kathleen Mathews, Andy Rockriver, Michael Sparkman, Tom Taylor, and Heather Webb. The outstanding photographs made for some tough choices in selecting the winners. The winners and their winning photographs are:
First Place- Kathleen Mathews, US Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station, Sierra Nevada Research Center, for Rosy rockfish, Sebastes rosaceus, photographed at Cortes Bank. ![]() Second Place:- Steve Howard, United Water Conservation District, for Stickleback in Toro Creek Lagoon San Luis Obispo County Third Place (two winners):- George Heise, California Department of Fish and Game, for Dry Creek Salmon November 2003, Fall Run Chinook attempting to cross low barrier on Dry Creek, Roseville, CA.

A gift certificate worth $100 from Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) will be awarded for 1st place, in addition to the fame of having your photograph and name being prominently displayed on the website. A $50 gift certificate will be awarded for 2nd place. There will be two awards for 3rd place of $25 gift certificates. Awards will be made at the annual business meeting, which will take place at the AFS meeting in San Francisco in September. Pictures will be displayed on our website. Congratulations to our winners and all our entrants. Thanks for making our photo contest a success. |
